Happenings of the 4th

Our 4th started out pretty low key. We all slept as much as we could in the morning and had a pretty relaxing day. Late afternoon we hung out with some teens from our church, playing Volley Square (which is a favorite game). I even baked a cake, celebrating 2 of the teens birthdays. It was Confetti Cake - a youth group favorite.

We had plans to hang out and watch fireworks after Volley Square but before we went, we ran home so I could feed Jaxen. And I'm so glad we stopped by the house - because this is what we saw when we got home:

Part of our tree in the front yard had fallen! This is the 3rd time a section of our tree has come down. What we have learned, is that this tree does not have a long life, and it is just dying and old. We are tired of losing a section of a tree at a time - so we are in the process of finding someone to remove it, and then we will plant a new tree in it's place.

So before we got to enjoy fireworks - Nik spent some time cutting it up so we could move it out of our driveway. I helped haul the branches once they were cut.

We finally made it to hang out - and while we waited we played some Ladder Ball, Boccee Balll and Frisbee:

Here is our group, hanging out before the fireworks:

And here is Jaxen during the fireworks - sleeping! You can't really see it, but one of our friends put a glow-stick bracelet on him. It was pretty cute!

I hope everyone had a Happy 4th of July!

We are looking forward to more company - Nik's parents are coming to see Jaxen!

  1. WOW! Poor tree! It was so beautiful. That is really sad that you guys are going to loose it and all of the shade that it provided. I will be sad to see it go. Glad you all had an excellent time!
