Basketball

What a cutie, right?!

Just don't tell him I said that.

Well, Jaxen's basketball season is over.

It ended sadly in the first round of a tournament this past weekend.

At one point, after the game, every single boy was in tears.

I might have been, too.

The team they played was just better - that's how it goes sometimes,

but we were all hoping for a win and to move a little further in the tournament.

Jaxen was pretty upset, and on the way home I found out

he was more upset about not seeing his teammates again than losing.

I assured him we could see them again...

they were a fun group of boys!

To make matters a bit worse, Jaxen was sick.

I knew he didn't feel great...but he hung in there pretty well most of the day.

Saturday night he started feeling way worse.

On Sunday morning the doctor confirmed he had Strep.

He stayed home Monday and was feeling better,

but Nik had to pick him up from school on Tuesday because he was still pretty tired.

He seems okay tonight.
I'll probably send him to bed early - just to make sure he gets extra sleep,
and then try school again tomorrow!

I don't like it when my kiddos are sick :(
 

Life Lately

Here's a little life lately....

WHY all the toothbrushes, and toothpastes, and messes?!

Seriously...you would think my kiddos have the best dental hygiene - wrong!

But I love how excited they get about new toothbrushes :)

The kids were out of school this past Monday and guess what they did?

Got donuts!

And Nik took them to a few more fun places.

Lucky kiddos :)

I am sure I have shared this, but we have a neighbor-friend of the boys whose name is Brooks.

He is in the same grade as Jaxen.

And Zane adores him.

Example 176: Zane named his puppy "Brooks Puppy"

How sweet is that?!

I texted Brooks mom and shared that information.

Thankfully, she thought it was sweet too, and not creepy or weird! Lol.

 

Zane enjoys vaccuming after I sweep things in a pile. 

I'll take it. 

 

We have a new game in our house...Jenga!

If you come over, be prepared for all of Jaxen's "Dare Devil" moves.

He thinks he's a pro...but I beat him :)

One last thing for today...

this was my office view a few days ago.

It was snowing and I was surrounded by a few of my favorite things!

Celebrating Valentines

Valentines seems like so long ago!

We had a fun day…

Before I get to that, here are a few pics from Zane’s Valentines party at school…

Now - back to our Valentines day!

First, I took off work :)

The boys were out of school, so I took a day off so we could have a Family Day.

We started off having friends come over that morning and playing.

A friend of Jaxen’s from school, has a brother Zane’s age and so they came over, with their mom.

The boys had a great time playing and the mom and I got a chance to visit with each other.

After Nik woke up and we had a little lunch we headed to Super Kids Club!

This was the boys valentines gift. 

Well, minus the bag of dum-dums (Zane) and fun-dip (Jaxen) they received.

 

The boys probably played for around 4 hours - they had so much fun!

We took a short break about half-way through to get them a snack/drink
and to pick up groceries - the store was right across the street. 

We gave them a few options for dinner and they chose Freddy’s, which everyone loves!

That evening, Nik had to take a nap and go to work,
but the boys and I had a slumber party in the living room. 

We watched Free Willy.

And they loved it!

Zane could not stop talking about the “big whale” and
Jaxen thought the movie was “very emotional - good things and bad things”. 

They both stayed up and watched the whole thing - shocked me!

I thought they would fall fast asleep, but no.

After the movie, Zane was having trouble sleeping in the living room.

He wanted his bed so I let him sleep in his room.

Jaxen and I finished out our slumber party and slept in the living room.

It was a great day celebrating!

Finally February

Well, it's February!

I saw so many funny meme's this past week about how long January is.

They make me laugh :)

I tried to find some to share…but couldn’t - sorry!

With February comes Valentines - and I'm happy to say I'm ahead of it this year…
(so far)

I have out a few decorations…

I have signed up and purchased what the boys need for their "Friendship Parties”
(juice, paper plates, napkins)....

I have purchased the boys favorite candy for their valentine bags….

I had them help me put together valentines for their class over the weekend…
Dino stickers from Zane / Sticky hand from Jaxen

And I had Jaxen make his valentine box!
He painted it the next morning, but I didn’t take pictures of the finished product.

Oh, and bonus - I cleaned out my fridge.
Deep cleaned….drawers, shelves, and food all came out.
Yes, it looks a bit bare. Nik hit up the grocery store the next day :)

And the best thing about the first weekend in February?

The Super Bowl and....

the KANSAS CITY CHIEFS!!!!!

Fun game!

Nik and I had to pause a few times to take care of the kiddos (feed them, put them to bed) -

so we were behind on watching the game.

Well, the 4th quarter barely started and we hear fireworks….so many fireworks….

it ruined the win for us - but still fun to see how they pulled it off!

It was a fun season watching them play,

and a great ending!
