Fun Times

I asked Nik to get a picture of Zane all decked out in a cute Christmas outfit
for his last day of Kids Day Out, and this is what I got -

Zane loves going pee pee in the potty by himself, during bath time.
It is so funny to watch…
First, he climbs on the edge of the tub, then onto the potty - where he squats.

Then, he hops down, closes the lid...

stands on the lid, flushes and then hops back in the tub!

I took Jaxen and Zane to a church event this past weekend, called Morning at the Manger.
There was lots of fun things…
an obstacle course, cookie decorating, play-do, petting zoo, music and crafts!
They even had this picture area where kids could take their picture with Baby Jesus!

Side note:
They boys went without their teeth brushed or their hair combed.
Jaxen locked the bathroom door and I could not open it!

After the Morning at the Manger, I took them to the park that is near our house.
It was such a beautiful day and they had a great time!

Jaxen’s School - Updates

Friday I got to be a Mystery Reader for Jaxen’s 1st grade class!

A Mystery Reader is someone who comes to the classroom to read a book to the kids.
The “mystery” part is that you have to give 3 clues that the teacher shares with the kids.
Then, the kids try to guess who it is.

My clues were:
1. I have lived in 4 states
2. I have no pets
3. My favorite Christmas movie is Elf

And guess what?
Jaxen guessed Nik :)
He was excited when I walked in though!
I read our family-favorite book, Tickle Monster - and the kids loved it!

After story time I brought a Cookie Cake to share with Jaxen’s friends.
When he found out we were moving - he had one request:
That we bring a treat to share with the class.
Apparently, someone who had moved in K did that.
Obviously, it made a big impression!

Before we ever put an offer on our house,
we talked to Jaxen about moving, and how he will have to change schools.
We drove him by his (possible) new school, and from looks alone (the outside) he liked it.

Once we purchased our house I let his current school know we were moving.
Then I called his new school.
And they said we could come for a tour last Friday!

So at 3, Friday afternoon, Jaxen and I went to his new school.
We saw all the main areas: gym, cafeteria, library, music….
and then we got to go to the first grade classroom he will be in!
We met his teachers, the kids in class, and saw his desk.

The teacher picked two kids to show us to a few more places around the school.
It was fun having the kids give us a tour!

All in all, Jaxen said he will be nervous, but that he thinks he will like his new school.
I pray he finds fast friends and adjusts well.

Even though I know his teacher and the school will do things different,
we are in the same school district and therefore, a few things are the same.
Jaxen even noticed some things that were the same, which helped!

Saturday we ran out to the Louisberg Cider Mill!
We drank cider, bought pancake mix, ate cider donuts and saw this wonderful Christmas Tree!

Today we have had a lazy day at home!
Well, the boys have.
Nik is working and I am trying to get a few things done here and there.

But this picture pretty much sums up the boys morning:
fire, phones, cider donuts and relaxation!

Jaxen later told me this was the best day ever - because he got to do what he wanted! Lol.
There was also bath time, craft time, pickup time, nerf gun time
and lots of snacks :)

We did not go to church this morning because Zane is sick.
I think we will try to get him into the doctor tomorrow.
He just seems to be getting worse, although I am doing all I can think of to do for him!

A Few Updates

Sorry for the lack of blogging here lately….
we have had major internet issues at the house and so no internet means no blogging :(

Last weekend I took the boys to Jaxen’s school for a pancake breakfast, book fair and to see Santa!

Zane would not go near Santa - but Jaxen did!

He asked for a Nintendo Switch or a Nintendo DS….
good luck, kid!

In other news…Zane is (sometimes) wearing undies!
He knows how to go pee pee in the potty,
and will do so, on his own, at random times.
So I put him in undies for a little bit last weekend to see how he would do.
He did not do good - lol!

After the New Year, we will probably “potty train” him.
But for now - I’ll share pics of cute he is in little undies :)

One of my favorite things this Season has been this paper Jaxen brought home from school:

The winter holiday I celebrate is: Christmas.
In this picture, I am: putting Christmas lights on my tree.
I celebrate this holiday with: my family.
My favorite part of this holiday is: it is Jesus birthday!

Zane has discovered this rocking horse, that was once Nik’s - cute!

I will try to do some house updates soon, but really things have not changed much.

Nik is working a lot of extra hours and I am trying to do a little bit each night.
Things are slowly progressing and that’s ok.
For the most part.
There are some areas I have to get organized soon because
I’m losing my mind trying to find things!

Our House - Downstairs

In our new house, we have a basement :)
I finally had the chance tonight to clean and organize it some, so I took pics!

Our basement is L shaped.
One side we have the fireplace, couch and rocking chair.
The garage opens to the basement - the door is cropped out, but it is to the right of the couch.

The other side is the ‘boys’ section.
It has toys, a tv and the smaller couch.

This slightly different angle shows two doors on the left.
One is a guest bedroom and one is a 1/2 bath.

So there you go - one area of our house!

I still need to finish my decorating down there,
get rid of the random boxes,
paint and add some stuff to the walls -
but it works for now!

It is super cozy and we are enjoying the SPACE!

Weekend Recap

Well, we officially live at our new home!
To be honest, it’s been a rough couple of days - but we are hanging in.

Here’s a weekend recap for you, starting with Thursday…

We laid low Thursday morning, watching the parade and baking chocolate chip lava cookies.
Then we headed out around 10:30am to our friends, the Chandlers (hence the cc lava cookies - I couldn’t show up empty handed…it’s their favorite!).
We enjoyed a wonderful, relaxing Thanksgiving!

Friday, I’m pretty sure we worked at the house all day.
It’s a blur…but we were either at the house or at the apartment, packing.

Saturday - we moved!
I don’t have much else to say - it was a long, hard day.
But we slept in our new home that night :)

Sunday, we were up early and out the door for church by 8:35am.
While moving, I discovered a bin of winter 2T clothes…overalls and super cute coat for the win!
I snapped these cute pics of Zane at the church, while waiting on Nik and Jaxen.

After church we headed to Bass Pro Shop to see Santa and play in their Toy Wonderland.
Santa didn’t come until later in the day - so now we have to go back at some point.
But, Jaxen and Zane had the best time seeing the fish, and playing!

I was able to get this precious picture of Jaxen.

I tried to get one of Zane, and these are what I got…which crack me up :)

Once Zane discovered the “play mud” and trucks…he was one happy little guy!

We left Bass Pro in blizzard conditions and it did not let up until after dark.

And this was Monday morning.

So what do you do when it’s blizzard-like conditions, your husband is at work,
you just moved in to a new house and nothing is unpacked or organized yet?

Decorate for Christmas!

We put this cute little tree up in the boys bedroom.
Well, we decorated it downstairs because that’s where all my stuff was,
and then I carried it upstairs to their bedroom.

Half-way through we found Santa hats and took selfies.

I also put up a tree in our basement for us to enjoy while we are down there.
(Which is most of the time right now, while we are still working upstairs).

It is not finished by any means…there are maybe 20 ornaments on it,
plus I need to get some stocking hangers, and hide a few cords…
but it’s pretty cozy down there!

The boys found their little nativity and Jaxen was explaining to Zane who everyone was -
it was pretty cute until they started beating up baby Jesus and making the
sheep knock over all the people like it was a bull instead of a sheep!

Because of the snow, we had a snow day on Monday
(well, except Nik - he worked Sunday and Monday).
I was very thankful for the extra time off of work - we got a ton accomplished at the house!

But first, a game of Sorry with Jaxen…at 6:40am.
Who does that?!

The boys did venture outside for a bit…once I pieced together some clothing
(most of our snow gear is packed away).
But they had fun for a while!

Whew - That was a long post!
I’ll try to post more on the house later this week…once things are a little more together!
