Weekend Fun - Part 2

The fun continued with our friends last Sunday…
First up - Church!
Then  - Ikea!
Lunch at Taco Bell…
then home for some rest time before hitting up Crown Center for some ice skating!

Rebecca, Zane and I choose not to ice skate, but to watch.
Nik, Eric and Jaxen rented skates and hit the ice!

There were a couple of falls, a couple of tears and lots of this…

It was a beautiful night and we enjoyed the scenery and walking around
while the boys skated.

After ice skating we walked around, saw a LegoLand display and then had dinner.

Eric and Zane are buddies…
and they both enjoyed their cuddle time each night before bed!

The highlight of Monday was LEGO LAND!!!!

So much fun!

We enjoyed our friends visiting us and can’t wait to see them
(and their baby girl) in the future!

Weekend Fun - Part 1

This past weekend we had some friends come see us and this was their first time in (near) Kansas City! It was so much fun having them around…and we did lots of fun stuff - take a look….

Oh wait…first…this:

There was a local church who was offering a Parent’s Night Out on Friday night and so we dropped our kids off (they had a BLAST) and we went into the city to eat at Buca di Beppo (thank you, Groupon)! We love Buca and had the best time. After a very relaxing, yummy, and fun dinner we walked to a cup cake place and picked out dessert (for later) and then hit up a local coffee spot before heading back to get the boys.

It was needed and so great to connect with Nik without interruption :)

After we got the boys and got them in bed - Nik headed to the airport to pick up our friends. It was a late night…and Nik had to go on to work.

The next morning we stopped for coffee and Trader Joe’s (I forgot I was responsible for snacks at basketball that day). And then headed to Babies R Us (closing out sale). This cutie had fun looking at everything...

Yes, we bought those adorable sunglasses (see below). And we bought a small umbrella stroller. Our friends are expecting their first baby (girl) in May and so it was fun to look at a baby store with them.

We headed out to lunch and look at these two - so sweet!

Next we headed to Basketball (while Nik and Zane napped). We only have one more game left. Jaxen has decided that we are going to try soccer next!

Scheels (a favorite store) was next on the agenda, then dinner, and one more stop at the Disney Store before we called it a day!

Whew! That was just Saturday :) More fun coming…!

Lots to Share

Apparently this is my M.O. - wait for 2 weeks and then dump a bunch of random pictures in a blog post to let you know what’s going on in our life….

Let’s start with sickness. In a matter of 4 days, 3 of us saw a doctor.

Nik had a bad infection on his arm -
This was after the start of the antibiotic.
Before it, that bump was swollen and red all over his arm!
Thankfully, it cleared up quickly.

Jaxen had strep and then landed some nice impetigo on his face.
It has gotten better…then worse…then better…then worse.
I’m hoping that since he has a 3 day weekend this weekend I can really get a handle
on it - and get it better.
He has to keep it covered at school (which is not good for it) and he scratches it at school
(which makes it spread) because they won’t administer the cream on it.
Vicious cycle.
I’m hoping to win in the next 3 days.

He also had this beauty on his eye.
No clue.
But it’s better now.

Then I had bronchitis!
No picture of that.

Moving on…

Basket ball continues to be a good thing!
All ready for his game last weekend.

Jaxen is learning so much and really doing much better than 5 weeks ago!
We have 2 more games left and I’m so excited :)

We are looking at signing him up for a soccer league next.
I’m telling you…5 year olds and sports are so much fun!

Zane is a mess. A cutie. But a mess.
I found him like this one night while he was supposed to be in bed.
Wearing funny glasses, playing with his batman light that is plugged into the wall.

And it doesn’t stop there…
he will be climbing on the desk, or standing at Jaxen’s head...hammering the wall,
playing with his trucks in the living room (if I happen to be in my room, hanging up clothes),
playing with toys…oh, you name it and that is wha we go through every night at bedtime.
I cannot keep him in his bed!
Thankfully, once he goes to sleep (between 9:30-10:00pm usually) he sleeps through the night.
Now, anyway.
Or at least the last 2 nights.
I hope it’s a new trend :)

I love him so much!
Just not his sleep habits.
Seriously though…look at him...

I took him shopping with me last weekend and after throwing a complete
fit for 15 minutes he zonked out.
I shopped happy for almost 45 minutes!!!!

Nik took Zane to a Toddler Play time during the week.
Zane has so much fun!

(This is where those pictures go…but they are not uploading.
Bummer.)

Let’s see…what else…

I guess I’ll leave you with this gem.

Life is never boring around here!!!

Valentines

Happy Valentines everyone!

My day consisted of chocolate, a Sonic soda, flowers, a Chili-Cook-Off for lunch, a little bit of actual work, family dinner, gifts for Jaxen and Zane, chocolate-covered strawberries and time with my family. Perfect!

my flowers

Everyone had a pretty good day…especially Jaxen!
He not only had a Valentine’s Party at school…
it was also the 100th day of school :)

Jaxen wearing his 100 glasses

Earlier in the week Jaxen counted out 100 marshmallows all by himself for his class trail mix
(and then I let him eat a few)

Jaxen helped me put together his little valentines for his friends at school -
a printed card (folded) and stapled to a baggie with starburst in them

Jaxen and I were the only two awake when I was getting ready to leave for work today
Mom fail - I had nothing “valentiney” for Jaxen to wear today!

The valentine envelope Jaxen decorated at school which held all his valentines

I love this little holiday! Even without the chocolates and flowers and gifts - it’s just a fun day and it gives me a chance to tell the ones I love, that I love them so much. Today Jaxen and I got to talk about loving others and I was able to share with him that even as much as we love each other - God loves us even more…He loves us the most!!!

We have had some great, interesting conversations lately about heaven, God, loving others, being laughed at, hurt feelings, being a good friend…whoa…it’s just so much to wrap my brain around. I pray the Lord will give me the right words to teach, guide and direct Jaxen in these areas. Such a great responsibility. Anyway…that’s another topic for another day! Ha - didn’t mean to carry on.

Also - I just realized this post should be titled Carla and Jaxen’s Valentines…since it’s just about us! Haha! I promise Nik and Zane are around…they just didn’t have as an exciting day. However…Nik and I have a date night on Friday and I’m pumped for some alone time with my cutie husband :)
