Grandparents & The Zoo

One has nothing to do with the other :)

So last week the grandparents came!
It was so nice to have them come visit us…
It was fun to show them our new “world”, play games, hangout and
of course it was a nice excuse to eat yummy food + dessert!

Let me just say we played lots of Skip-Bo and I was not the winner.
Moving on now.

We don’t get to see either side of our family nearly enough,
so it’s always nice to have that time together.

I did manage two pictures:

With and without Zane.
See the little hand on the table above?

They left on Sunday to head home.

And on Monday we headed to the zoo with some of my work people!

I love this group of people I work with!
We had a blast.
Except it was hot. Way hot.

We got to experience the new sting ray exhibit!

So fun!
And afterward, we stopped for Shaved Ice.
This is Nik’s new favorite place.
I got a small. See pic below.
It is ginormous!
And the photo bomber is pretty cute - ha!

It was a wonderful few days!

Kindergarten - The End

Jaxen went from 3 years old, beginning a 2-day a week preschool...

to 4 years old, starting Preschool….

to 5 years old, beginning Kindergarten…

to now being a 1st grader!!!!!

Thursday was his last day of school.
It was a half day.
So after school we took him to lunch of his choice - McDonalds :)

He had a great year.
The kids in his class were good at accepting him and helping to make him comfortable
(starting 3 weeks late and not knowing anyone).

And his teacher was amazing!
I seriously can’t say enough good things about her.
She was the perfect balance of kind, fun, structure and disciple for Jaxen!

When I picked Jaxen up - he started crying because he was going to miss his teacher so much!

He is ready for summer, though.
He is ready to have time in the mornings to play and not get dressed right away.
And he is ready to have time with his dad and Zane!

Here’s to a great summer!!!

And then he will start 1st grade…wow.
Time flies.
Babies don’t keep.

Soccer - The End

Jaxen has his last soccer game on Tuesday night.
(It was supposed to be Saturday, but got cancelled, due to weather).

They played well and won their last game,
making his team undefeated the whole season!

Jaxen is often the one who asks if he can sit out first - but when his coach
tells him it’s time to play, he runs out there and does his best!

He learned a lot this season and I was really proud of him!

I don’t know if he will play again or not…that’s up to him,
but I think he liked it a bit better than basketball.

His teammates were great - as were his coaches!
I hope if he does play again, we can connect with some from this team.

I’m going to miss the beautiful sunsets from out there on the field!
It’s not the same view from our apartment - ha!

I will not miss chasing Zane the entire time!
The picture below was literally the one time he sat still - for about 2 minutes.
Otherwise, he was running onto the field, towards the parking lot…and everywhere in between.

They had a little awards ceremony where they got medals and awards from their coach.

Jaxen’s head coach was not there (due to rescheduling)
and he was the one who made out the awards.
So we’re not really sure what the written award means - it’s after some soccer player.
But the assistant coach said Jaxen was a “Beast Goalie”!

And below is his “official” soccer picture!

Mother’s Day and Miscellaneous

I told Nik this was probably the best Mother’s Day yet!

And the only reason I can think of as to why…is that Jaxen was so into it this year!

Day’s before Mother’s Day he would bring stuff home from school
that he made for me…he would even make me crafts at night before bed,
for Mother’s Day….and one of my favorite things he did was get a Diet Mt. Dew
can out of our fridge, wrapped it in white paper (that I had to help with) and then
decorated it…and then gave it to me as my special treat!
I took it to work, and have yet to unwrap it and drink it -because it’s too precious :)

I love that boy. Zane too!
And the effort that he (and Nik) made to make my day so special.

I mentioned to Nik the weekend before Mother’s Day that I had my eye on a pair of earrings.
He told me to order them - so I did. (see pic below).

And then he took Jaxen to Target to pick me out a gift
and look at the cute necklace he gave me! I love it!
(Nik also picked out a pair of running pants/shirt for me).
I had great food, cute cards and enjoyed the morning at church, lunch with friends and
time with my boys - it was a great day!

Now here are some miscellaneous pics from the last few weeks…

This kid loves his ice cream!

Pic taken in a hotel a few weekends ago…
all ready for church (and to ride on the luggage rack out to the car!)

I have enjoyed the early morning run/walks I have been doing to
help me prepare for my 1/2 marathon.
And look at what I saw all in a week time…

a deer...

a rabbit….

a turtle…
and this thing!
It made me laugh when I came around the corner….kinda ruins the scenic view! Ha!

And then I saw this out of my office window…
What is it?! It was huge! A badger, maybe?!

My boys have been enjoy all the grapes lately.

My husband has been enjoying all the strawberries lately.

And Zane has been enjoying corn on the cob!

The #1 reason I’m ready for school to be out…
so I will quit finding rocks in my washer every night!

And no post would be complete without some soccer pics, right?
Don’t worry, this Saturday is the last game…then they will stop!

And here’s some cute pics of Zane from last week’s soccer game.

That’s a wrap!
We have Jaxen’s last soccer game tomorrow, we have to take snacks,
and then we have the Celebration Lunch & Awards.
Other than that - our weekend is free.
Which means naps and probably pizza :)
