Pics from the Week

This week has been both good and bad!
Ever have weeks like that?
It was good - because it was my birthday!
And it was bad - because Nik had his wisdom teeth out and he has had a bad recovery.
He went back to the dentist today, and they treated him for dry-sockets.
So far - he is feeling much better!
I hope that continues.
It was a rough week for him  :(

Zane had fun watering all the plants at the pool last Saturday!

Sunday, I had a great nap with this 2 year old.
Glad I had that sweet time with him…because he is a mess right now!
Tantrums…oh they are bad...

For ‘Make It Monday’ Nik helped the boys (well, Jaxen mainly) make
these cute spray-paint shirts!
Zane has one too - but I haven’t got a picture yet.

Then when I got home, I had Jaxen make flash cards
of his sight words from the school year.
He did about half of them and then he told me his hand hurt from writing!

Zane enjoyed drawing and cutting.

Tuesday, Nik took the boys to Kaleidoscope.
It’s a great arts and crafts place downtown.
They had a blast!
Jaxen went for his field trip and ever since…he has wanted to go back.
Did I mention it was free?! It is. Win!!!

Wednesday was my birthday!
And even though I had to work, it was a fun day.
I had a few surprises…one being these great flowers Nik got me!
I had them at the office but brought them home tonight to enjoy over the weekend.

Nik and the boys took me out to lunch - my choice.
I picked one of my favorites that I have only eaten at once…it was very good!

It’s pretty hard to get good pics - but for Water Wednesday
they boys had a “glow in the dark bath” and it was a hit!
I filled the bathtub with glow sticks and turned the lights out.
I think I have enough glow sticks left over for one more bath.

Thursday, we had our hottest day yet.
So we picked up pizza and headed straight to the pool when I got home!
The boys and I had fun swimming and eating our dinner poolside.

This is from awhile back…but I never posted it and I think it’s so funny.
Nik got home from work one morning and found Zane in our bed.
He had half his shirt on / half off, and sleeping right in the middle.
Like that is where he belongs, or something :)

Have a great weekend :)

My 1/2 Marathon Journey - Signing Up

Guess what?
I signed up to run a 1/2 marathon!
Seriously.
I am paying to run.
Crazy, right?!

First of all, its for a good cause.
Clean water for children and communities in Africa.
Many people, including children have to walk an average of 3 miles one way
to get water - and it’s often not even safe to drink.

Second, I just felt convicted about doing this.
We were in church one Sunday, back in May, and we heard a
guy sharing his story about training and running a 1/2 marathon,
and how it changed his life and the lives of so many others.
And it was then that I knew it was just something I needed to do.

I want to be a part of something bigger than myself.
To join with others and help raise money to give people access to clean water.

I needed to get out of a rut I was in.
A mental, physical and spiritual rut.
Running a 1/2 marathon is not something I can do on my own -
but it is something I can do with the Lord’s strength and help!

So - I am :)

And I want to invite you to join with me…
not by running - but by changing lives, bringing clean water to children.

I want to run 1 mile for 2 children.
A 1/2 marathon is 13 miles.
13miles x 2children = 26total children.

$50 brings clean water to 1 child.
$50 x 26children = $1,300 (which represents 13 miles).

If you feel led and would like to support me in this endeavor,

Life Lately

We have had lots going on these days!

Last week, Jaxen attended a Kanakuk Camp (here in town)
every day, from 9a-4p.
He had the best time. ever.
Here he is, with his counselor, Joe.
Joe is like his BFF.
Jaxen still talks about missing him.
I love that he has some older teens/college guys to look up to!

Jaxen received the Certificate of Character:
Jaxen gives rise to new things and ideas.
His confidence and zeal for life make him a great friend to have.
These qualities will allow him to be confident in where God has placed him in His Kingdom."

One day last week, I put Jaxen in the bath and next thing I know…he is yelling at me!
Zane had climbed in...fully dressed, full diaper and all.
He was just sitting there playing :)
Crazy boy.

I took a morning off while Nik had a dentist appointment and Jaxen had camp.
Zane and I went to a new park while we waited for Hobby Lobby to open.
He just loves running and playing!

And he loves Hobby Lobby!
Thankfully, he was too busy eating a snack to touch too many things.
I had a good time with my boy that day!

Every time we pass by our neighbors door Zane has to “pet” their dog statue.

and hug them…and tell they bye-bye!

Nik and his boys on Father’s Day.
They love him fiercely.
He feels the same way.
I am thankful for Nik and all that he does for our family, and our boys!

We went with Nik to to get his present
(I was supposed to do this Saturday, but ended up sick all day).
We went to his favorite coffee place and got coffee stuff.
I’m not even sure what he got…but he was happy!

Then we tried a new Greek place for lunch that was fantastic!

After naps I took the boys to the pool while Nik got more nap time!

This week, Jaxen is at a night time VBS.
So every night I leave the house around 6pm and drop him off.
I have either run errands or taken Zane somewhere to play before picking Jaxen back up.
We don’t get home until 9pm - and then it’s time for the boys to go to bed.

Our house has been nice and quiet in the evenings so Nik can get rest :)

The only other thing I have been up to is training for a 1/2 marathon!
Which basically means I’m up by 6am every morning out walking and running.
I’m still a long ways away from running 13 miles, but I’m taking the training one day at a time :)

That’s a look at life lately around here!

Jaxen’s Birthday Fun!

Sunday,  June 10th, we had Jaxen’s Birthday Party @ Chuck E Cheese!

I gave Jaxen a few choices on what he wanted to do for his 6th Birthday Party,
and he chose Chuck E Cheese.
I told him he could have 3 friends there with him.
So I invited 3.
Two could not come.
I invited 2 more.
2 could not come.
I invited 2 more.
I could not come
By that time, it was Friday and the party was Saturday.
I told him he would only have 2 friends there - he was just fine with that.
When the party started…only 1 showed up.
I don’t even think Jaxen noticed.
He was having the best time ever :)

So did Zane!

He wanted chocolate cake with chocolate frosting
(and I threw chocolate chips on top, for good measure)!
He even helped me bake it!

June 12th, was his actual Birthday!
He chose to eat pizza (go figure)! lol
After we ate, he was so excited to open his presents.
He got his first gaming device - and has been thrilled with it!
He got some great other gifts too :)

The day after we enjoyed pizza (again) with the Robbins.
They got him slime for his birthday and it was a hit!
The boys played with it for a very long time that night…and lots since then, too!
They are having fun being creative.

Jaxen got lots of Birthday cards and well wishes - he is a very loved 6 year old!

I’m sure I have said this every year - but he seriously looks and acts older!
It’s crazy.
I’m glad he’s 6. He is so excited about 6…and what comes with it -
like 1st grade!!!!
