Tackle Football: Jaxen

Last week the Bulldogs had their very last practice, getting ready for their very last game.

It was a long season... weigh-in day was July 15 and practices started not long after. The team had practices 3 times a week until their first game, and then 2 practices a week from then on with a game every weekend.

We are all ready for a football break - including Jaxen!

The Bulldogs played their first playoff game two weekends ago in the most terrible weather. Pouring rain and temps in the low 30's. Not cool. It was actually plain stupid. Jaxen was crying and shivering by the 3rd quarter so we bolted....as should have everyone else! They lost that game... no one could hold on to the ball, throw the ball, the snaps were bad…. It was rough to say the least.

I know the team was hoping for 1st or 2nd place (as they were in the #1 spot prior to playoffs) - but that loss put them out of that position.

Last weekend the Bulldogs played their last game for 3rd/4th place. They actually got 4th. It was a tough game. A tough loss. And it happened with 20 seconds left in the game, and unfortunately with a ref missing a really bad call. But that’s the game!

I have mixed feelings about tackle football at this age. I can’t say we had the best experience, but I can tell you Jaxen had the time of his life. After a rough start - he really enjoyed it. Loved his coaches, the kids on his team and he (hopefully) learned a lot of great life lessons.
