Jaxen’s School - Updates

Friday I got to be a Mystery Reader for Jaxen’s 1st grade class!

A Mystery Reader is someone who comes to the classroom to read a book to the kids.
The “mystery” part is that you have to give 3 clues that the teacher shares with the kids.
Then, the kids try to guess who it is.

My clues were:
1. I have lived in 4 states
2. I have no pets
3. My favorite Christmas movie is Elf

And guess what?
Jaxen guessed Nik :)
He was excited when I walked in though!
I read our family-favorite book, Tickle Monster - and the kids loved it!

After story time I brought a Cookie Cake to share with Jaxen’s friends.
When he found out we were moving - he had one request:
That we bring a treat to share with the class.
Apparently, someone who had moved in K did that.
Obviously, it made a big impression!

Before we ever put an offer on our house,
we talked to Jaxen about moving, and how he will have to change schools.
We drove him by his (possible) new school, and from looks alone (the outside) he liked it.

Once we purchased our house I let his current school know we were moving.
Then I called his new school.
And they said we could come for a tour last Friday!

So at 3, Friday afternoon, Jaxen and I went to his new school.
We saw all the main areas: gym, cafeteria, library, music….
and then we got to go to the first grade classroom he will be in!
We met his teachers, the kids in class, and saw his desk.

The teacher picked two kids to show us to a few more places around the school.
It was fun having the kids give us a tour!

All in all, Jaxen said he will be nervous, but that he thinks he will like his new school.
I pray he finds fast friends and adjusts well.

Even though I know his teacher and the school will do things different,
we are in the same school district and therefore, a few things are the same.
Jaxen even noticed some things that were the same, which helped!

Saturday we ran out to the Louisberg Cider Mill!
We drank cider, bought pancake mix, ate cider donuts and saw this wonderful Christmas Tree!

Today we have had a lazy day at home!
Well, the boys have.
Nik is working and I am trying to get a few things done here and there.

But this picture pretty much sums up the boys morning:
fire, phones, cider donuts and relaxation!

Jaxen later told me this was the best day ever - because he got to do what he wanted! Lol.
There was also bath time, craft time, pickup time, nerf gun time
and lots of snacks :)

We did not go to church this morning because Zane is sick.
I think we will try to get him into the doctor tomorrow.
He just seems to be getting worse, although I am doing all I can think of to do for him!
