Jaxen - 1 Month Dr. Appointment

We officially have a 'Chunky Monkey' on our hands!!!!

When Jaxen weighed in at the Doctor's today, he was 8 lbs and 5 oz. (Birth Weight = 7.7; Last Week = 7.4). Dr. K was so happy with his progress - we don't have to go back and see her until his 2 month appointment. And...we get to cut back some on our eating schedule! Hallelujah! We are both (Jaxen and I) excited about this break.

In yesterday's post, I stated that today was Jaxen's 1 month birthday...it is not. It is tomorrow!

Happenings

I have been a bit of a slacker when it comes to the blog lately. I have been pretty busy keeping up with Jaxen's eating schedule (trying to put weight on him). And I don't have too many thoughts these days. My thoughts include: feeding Jaxen, pumping breast milk, calculating how many times Jaxen has eaten, how much he has ate, how many wet and dirty diapers he has had and thinking about how much sugar I can eat to keep me going! I might have had a few other thoughts than that... but not much, and definitely no deep thoughts. Some moments I just feel like I'm in a daze. I know this will pass in time...

**********

Here are a few happenings around the Davis household...

* Jaxen will be one month tomorrow!

Jaxen and I:

* A set of grandparents have been here this week and another set come in this weekend! It has been nice to have them. We have not been terribly exciting. Good thing they like to sit around and look at Jaxen! They have helped hold, feed, soothe, play, cuddle and love on Jaxen so I can pump milk and get a few things done (un interrupted) around the house.

Jaxen, napping on Grandpa:

* We head to the doctor tomorrow to see how Jaxen's weight is. I think he has gained some weight this week. He looks chubbier to me. I will post a report once we hear how he is doing.

Jaxen's Sunday Outfit:

Jaxen, sleeping in a (cute) funny position:

* We had our front tree removed (finally) and our back trees all trimmed up. They did a great job - but it does look different.

Removal of the front tree:

Trimming of the back trees:

* I finally cleaned my bathroom today. It had been awhile (I will not tell you how long). It's exciting to me. Probably not to anyone else!

* Nik is busy preparing for a mission trip to Chicago with his teens.

And as promised... here are a few pics of Jaxen AWAKE!

Pictures from Nik

While Jaxen and I were both napping one day, I think Nik got bored. When I woke up, he began to show me all the pictures he had taken. Now you get to see them!

Yes, Nik even took a picture of me napping!

I realize that most of the pics you see of Jaxen, he is sleeping. I will try to work on getting pictures of him awake...

Stay tuned!

Happenings of the 4th

Our 4th started out pretty low key. We all slept as much as we could in the morning and had a pretty relaxing day. Late afternoon we hung out with some teens from our church, playing Volley Square (which is a favorite game). I even baked a cake, celebrating 2 of the teens birthdays. It was Confetti Cake - a youth group favorite.

We had plans to hang out and watch fireworks after Volley Square but before we went, we ran home so I could feed Jaxen. And I'm so glad we stopped by the house - because this is what we saw when we got home:

Part of our tree in the front yard had fallen! This is the 3rd time a section of our tree has come down. What we have learned, is that this tree does not have a long life, and it is just dying and old. We are tired of losing a section of a tree at a time - so we are in the process of finding someone to remove it, and then we will plant a new tree in it's place.

So before we got to enjoy fireworks - Nik spent some time cutting it up so we could move it out of our driveway. I helped haul the branches once they were cut.

We finally made it to hang out - and while we waited we played some Ladder Ball, Boccee Balll and Frisbee:

Here is our group, hanging out before the fireworks:

And here is Jaxen during the fireworks - sleeping! You can't really see it, but one of our friends put a glow-stick bracelet on him. It was pretty cute!

I hope everyone had a Happy 4th of July!

We are looking forward to more company - Nik's parents are coming to see Jaxen!

Jaxen - 3 Week Dr. Appointment

Jaxen saw Dr. K today, for a follow-up from his 2 week appointment.

He is now 21 1/2" (he was at 20 3/4" last week); and his weight was 7.4 lbs (last week he was 7.0 lbs).

What that means, is he is growing and gaining weight - but he still needs to gain more weight! I will still feed him every 2 hours (during the day) but will be adding a bottle of breast milk (about 2 oz.) after each feeding. This kid is definitely not going to starve...!

We have another appointment next week to check his weight gain.

Something else that was brought up during this appointment was his blood test results. After his birth, they did the normal blood screening and 2 of the tests showed up abnormal. They called to let us know that, but they also said it was normal for the tests to be abnormal after birth. At his 2 week appointment, they ran the same blood screening. When we met with Dr. K today she informed us that this last time  around, only 1 test was abnormal. This test is for Hemoglobin. She is going to refer him to a Hemoglobin specialist to check it all out. She did tell us that the abnormality was probably very minor. We will probably know more next week about our appointment date with the specialist.

Here is a pic of Jaxen in his bouncy seat:

And a pic of Nik giving him his very first bottle this week:

Jaxen - 3 Weeks Old

Dear Jaxen,

You are 3 weeks old today! I cannot believe it, still. We love you so much. We are still trying to figure you out - as I guess, you are still trying to figure out your new world too! But we are doing it - together. You are so cute and everytime you make a new face or a new noise we get so excited!

Here is what you have been up to, your 3rd week of life:

* You love being outside. If you are fussy or will not take a nap, we just take you outside and walk around for a bit. It's amazing how fast you calm down!

* You get the hiccups all the time. They don't seem to bother you too much. It's funny to see you have them now, because you had them pretty often while in my belly!

* You had your first 'day out' this past Saturday - complete with shopping and restrauants, and you did great! You are (so far) such a laid back, easy-going baby!

* You love it when people hold you - it does not matter who, and you don't mind being passed around.

* You have the best faces when you are going to sleep or waking up - they are so adorable!

* You found your thumb this week and you sure do enjoy it!

* We have had a couple of really fussy nights this week. Some say it is a growth spurt...I'm not sure, but you want to eat every hour and cry in between.

* The few nights you were not fussy, you slept between 4-6 hours!

We go to the doctor on Thursday to check Jaxen's weight. I'll post how it goes...

Weekend Recap

We had such a fun weekend with our good friends, Chris and Kylee - Here are some highlights!

Friday afternoon, right after they drove into town - Kylee and I went to get pedicures. It was fabulous. My feet (and me in general) needed one! It was so relaxing. I normally would never post pics of my feet (most of you that know me - know how much I hate my feet). However - the purple nail polish makes them look great!

That evening we went out for Italian and then topped it off with some yogurt. Yum! Other than that - we just hung out. They loved Jaxen and Jaxen LOVED them!

Saturday morning breakfast - our favorite 'Migas' place:

I have some birthday money and we decided to hit the mall and go shopping! We only made it to two stores, but we found some great deals. Before we left the mall, Kylee and I went to the restroom - so we left the boys with the baby and our shopping bags. It was pretty funny, seeing these two...so I, of course, had to take a picture!

That night we stayed in and ordered pizza and watched a movie. We were all craving dessert, so I made some brownies, which we topped off with chocolate ice cream and chocolate milk!

Sunday, our church had a big 4th of July picnic out in the country. I love our 4th of July picnic! They smoke brisket and sausage and then everyone brings sides and dessert. Everyone brings thier own lawn chairs and drinks. And there is a creek for the kids to play in. Usually some kind of game happens after everyone eats. This year, it was ultimate frisbee. I was having too much fun relaxing and talking to everyone to take any pics - but we did snap a couple before we left for the picnic.

Here is Jaxen in his patriotic onsie:

Here is Jaxen and I:

Thank you, Chris and Kylee for coming to see us and for taking such good care of Jaxen this weekend - I know he loved you both! Come back anytime!
