And it's not like we have a lot going on right now...just normal life.
Nik is still working. He is still tired. And he is ready to not be mauled by our children 24/7 :) Ha! He is doing well, though, and has even had the opportunity to go play Disc Golf a few times this summer! I really try to let him catch up on his sleep on Saturdays, and then we spend the majority of our time together on Saturday nights and Sundays.
This week, Jaxen has been hanging out at the Clardies house! We dropped him off Sunday and he will enjoy a week of VBS and fun! He is basically living his best life right now...swimming everyday, VBS, and his BFF (Misty).
Zane is good, too. He loves carrots right now. He get's so excited (jumping up and down) when Nik gets a carrot out of the fridge. He even runs to the trash can and opens the lid so Nik can peel the carrot. Then, he spends the next 30 minutes or so chomping away. He misses his brother...a little. I think he enjoys having mom/dad all to himself. But he does look around and asks for 'brother'. He has been sleeping in Jaxen's bed (the top bunk) and he probably won't stop anytime soon! They will have to share that top bunk when Jaxen gets back (we have done that a few times - one on each end). It still takes him about 2 hours to actually go to sleep at night, but for the most part - he is sleeping through the night. Although last night he was up 2 times.
I am doing good. I'm proud to say I have not missed one day of training for my 1/2 marathon since I started. I'm sure I will eventually, but right now I am giving this training my all. I am trusting the (running) plan; working the plan and counting on it to help me not die, come race day - ha! I purchased new running shoes and so far, I really like them. The true test will be on Saturday, when I do my longest run yet. Exercise has become a habit now. That's good. I look forward to my 'me-time' in the mornings and most mornings, that is when I have my quiet time with the Lord (listening to the Bible, podcasts, worship music and/or praying). Work is going well - I still really enjoy my job!
It is hot here. I'm sure it's hot everywhere, but I have not lived in this kind of hot for a few years. Not only is it hot...it's humid. I went running a few days ago and it was 88% humidity! Yuck. I am getting used to it...but this upper 90's and 100's are not fun. I prefer 80's and low 90's. I did take the boys out for a walk the other night to pick up trash on the trail (and throw rocks in the water). We had so much fun...but it was sooo hot! We were all so sweaty when we were done. I even got ready to take them to the pool when we got back (we don't normally swim at night). We got ready, walked there - only to find out it was closed due to maintenance. I'm not sure who was more upset...Jaxen or myself! I was ready for a swim after a super hot trail walk. Becuase Jaxen was so bummed...I tried to make bath time fun by coloring the water blue (with bath color drops) and letting them have some of their pool toys in the bath! They had a great time, and forgot about the pool.
