Jaxen

Here is what you need to know about Jaxen right now…

He is 4.5 years old. But he wishes so bad to be 5! That is his favorite number…and asks all the time when his birthday is. He is really into birthdays these days. I think because when kids at school have a birthday they sing and eat cupcakes.

Some funny things that Jaxen has been saying…
“I know. I know everything mom.” When I ask him if he knows something.
"Oh my stocking!” He says in response to everything.
"I'll do that when I'm a mommy and daddy.” His reply to something I asked him to do.
“You keep an eye on Zane.” Anytime he leaves the room that Zane is in.
“I’m done talking today.” When he is tired of answering questions about school.

And he has also picked up some not so good sayings… that we are working on!

Jaxen still loves school and is doing very well. In fact, most evenings (afternoons or mornings) he is teaching “his kids”. And often times we have to be at a “level 0” when he is teaching so everyone can hear. One really funny thing that happened at the airport last time we were there is when the announcements came on over the speaker system he was telling everyone “level 0 everyone! You have to be at level 0 to hear!”

When Jaxen grows up he wants to be a cop. And then a construction worker “after I am a cop.” That is what he told me the other night!

Crafts made at school...

Every morning, Jaxen wants to help me fix his lunch and everyday after school he wants to help with chores. Not all chores…but he likes to help with dishes and trash the most. I asked him to help with laundry and he replied with “I will do laundry when I am older.” He also loves to help me put away groceries, cook dinner and bake cookies.

One afternoon I picked Jaxen up from school and fresh snow had fallen. He wanted to play in it and walk through it. Well, he was excited and kicked his boot off, on accident. He picked his boot up and carried it in his hand to me (while walking in the snow with just his sock on!) so I could help put the boot back on. Crazy kid.

Jaxen loves for Zane to play in the bath with him. He loves to help rinse him off after I bathe him. He also offers to help feed Zane. Not all the time - but sometimes. He has gotten in a bad habit of yelling at Zane anytime Zane does anything… “no no Zamer. You listen or you go to time out!”

Which reminds me - Jaxen calls Zane, Zame. I think it is so cute and I just can’t correct him!

One of the ladies that works in the school office called Jaxen ‘handsome’ one morning - his reply “I’m not handsome - I’m Jaxen Davis!”

Today after school, I let Jaxen wrap his gifts to Zane and Nik for Christmas. He did a great job and even wrote their names on them...

I love this boy of mine so much. I feel like we have had a super hard year with him and some days are just so frustrating…but no matter what - he still brings so much joy and laughter to my heart!

Almost Christmas

We have the snow...

gifts are bought, cards are mailed out, house is decorated…
it’s almost Christmas!

Saturday I had a great time at a women’s Christmas get together.
I re-learned how to crochet!

This picture makes me laugh…
I’m practicing my crocheting, Zane just got done nursing, Teagan is
talking to Zane and Linda is helping me…
it was a lot going on!
Haha!

Today after school I had Jaxen help me put together his teacher gifts.

Christmas Potpourri Mix:
An orange, cinnamon sticks, cloves and cranberries.

I wrote out instructions and had Jaxen sign his name...

And then put the instruction and their card in a tin with a wooden
“Merry Christmas” ornament (2016 on back) wrapped around it.
I thought they turned out pretty cute!

Jaxen is super excited to give these to his teachers tomorrow!

I have a lot to do this week, getting ready for Christmas, but I’m ready!

Wrapping gifts, hosting a Cookie & Cocoa Open House, leading our last small group,
Christmas Eve Service and a Christmas morning Happy Birthday Jesus party…
it’s a fun time of year!

Life Lately

This boys smile and two little teeth are just so precious!

This was 2 Sundays ago…I think.
They were both in argyle and looked so cute!

Zane loves following Jaxen around everywhere…wanting to touch everything!
Jaxen is mostly patient with Zane.

A typical after school afternoon.

This is Nik’s new Christmas sweater.
It lights up!
This was a good day - friends, Target, Starbucks, cold weather and a yummy dinner!

Precious snuggle time with Zane.

I let Jaxen paint ornaments one day.

I love baby corduroys!

Seriously. These pants are so cute on Zane!

Jaxen wanted his mattress on his floor the other night.
So I took his bed out of his room and he thought it was so fun to sleep on the “floor"!

Three Things Right Now

ONE
This week we have dealt with a little bit of snow.
I don’t mind…I like the ‘seasons’ and so it’s nice to have some real winter.
They say more is coming today!

Jaxen likes to help too. He gets the small broom and dust pan and helps me clear the porches.

Monday morning we were all out there working (minus Zane)!

After school, Jaxen still wanted to clear more snow -
so we put him to work on our back deck.
Basically, he played a lot - but he had a great time doing it!

Last night at bedtime, he told me he wanted to have a snowball fight after school.
I may send Nik to pick him up - haha!

And look at how the snow melted/froze off of this building at our church.
The curve of that is pretty cool, huh?!

My front porch trees look really pretty covered in snow!

Do you see a Jaxen?!

TWO
Zane ate something that did not agree with him on Sunday night.
And he spent two hours in my lap (wrapped in a towel) throwing up.
It was really sad, that he threw up so much and felt bad…
but he was really cute, so I couldn’t help but snap a few pictures!

Poor boy.
This has happened a few times before.
We are trying to figure out if he has an allergy to something (nothing in common yet)
or if he just has a sensitive tummy and some foods he is just not yet ready for.

After about 2 hours, he nursed really well, went to bed and had no other issues.

THREE
Tuesday night we hosted our Church Board Christmas Party!
This party takes place (instead of the usual monthly meeting).
We invite the spouses (and kids).
I served all the adults Salad / Green Beans / Roast with Potatoes and Carrots / Rolls and Dessert.
We had a wonderful meal and a great time together!
It is so fun to get together with these leaders in our church and thank them for all they do.
We also gave them a little gift…a homemade ornament (that a friend made)
with our church name on it - and then I attached them to a little tree.
Their gift was also our centerpieces!

For the kids - I had pizza delivered, a Christmas movie ready and…
Sugar Cookie decorating!
I asked a lady to help with the kids and she did a wonderful job!
This was the cookie station all setup - minus the cookies and icing.

I got complimented on all my ‘topping choices’ plus 4 colors of icing :)
And now…I have lots of topping and icing left over.
Time for some baking, I guess - haha!

A Few of My Favorite Things...

These are a few of my favorite things right now this Christmas Season!

A new candle -
“Oh Christmas Tree”
It’s similar to my favorite Yankee Candle “Mistletoe” but half the price!

Christmas Cards -
I love getting and giving Christmas Cards!
My aunt Kay’s card was the first to arrive this year.

Hot Tea in my Yeti cup -
I love hot tea this time of year.
Earl Grey is one of my top choices, but I recently tried
Super Irish Breakfast Black Tea, and love it as well.
And my tea will stay warm for hours, thanks to my Yeti :)

Baking with Cranberries -
I love cranberries, and when they are baked in something, it just feels festive!
So I made a Cranberry Christmas Cake Tuesday, and it was fabulous!

Cookie Baking -
Yesterday, I made 40+ Sugar Cookies for an upcoming party (and froze them).
Then I waited for Jaxen to come home from school and we made his favorite…
Chocolate Chip Cookies!
Although baking with him can be frustrating at times…
it really does get better and better.
I love that he loves to help me in the kitchen!

So - those are just a few of my favorite things :)

I have parent teacher conference today, Jaxen has early dismissal today
and tomorrow and then we are expecting that big winter storm!
I have some plans this weekend…so I will see if they pan out - depending on weather.

Have a great Thursday…it’s almost the weekend :)
