Life Lately

The sickness is finally passing! Jaxen and Zane are better and Nik and I are on the mend :)

Here is a look at our life lately…

There was a bit of commotion going on down our street last week.
2 police cars, a state trooper, and after a car search 2 people were arrested.
We watched it all from our kitchen window.

I never thought play time with Nik would get old for the boys,
but at this moment, Jaxen asked “Daddy, can you be all done?”
Haha!

How can someone be so little and so big at the same time?
This was Jaxen’s first day back to school after missing so much from being sick.

And Thursday night a very sweet friend dropped off soup, homemade bread and cobbler.
How sweet, right?
My family probably would have eaten pretzels for dinner, if not for her.

Poor Zane. This is his life.

And this. He loves to climb on all the things!

Saturday our church held a Cookies & Canvas Easter Event for Kids
and it was a great time!

There were games, story time, painting, cookies, and then each kid was sent home with a
goodie bag filled with eggs, candy and an invite to church Easter Sunday!

Here are a few pics of Jaxen.

And then we headed to our town’s small park for an egg hunt.
Guess who was there?
The Easter Bunny!
Jaxen would not take a picture with him, but I did force Zane to.

And just so you know…
This is the only Easter Bunny picture we have.
We don’t have any with Jaxen. And honestly, this is probably the only one we will ever have.
I am not big on paying money to stand in line to get this kind of picture - Haha!
Thankfully, this was free and no lines!

This was Jaxen on Saturday afternoon...

And then we went and tried out a new burger place -
This was Nik’s burger (yes, that is onion rings and grilled cheese!)

After burgers, we went out for our first ice cream of the season.
Ice cream places close here in the winter and they are all starting to open!
We love going to little ice cream shops.

Sweet little tired boy!

So - Sunday morning are not always easy with the little ones, right?!
My house can be pretty clean on Saturday night,
but when we actually leave for church on Sunday morning, I look around and it’s a disaster.
No joke.
Something about Sunday mornings - haha!
But…we always make it, and usually make it with all of us happy. Win-win.
And every now and then I remember to take a Sunday Selfie!

That’s a little bit of life lately.
And tomorrow…
Well, tomorrow my baby turns one!

Under the Weather

Well…we are all feeling a bit under the weather over here :(

This is the only picture I have taken in days…

It was at the doctors office Monday afternoon.

Sunday night Zane spiked a bad fever (Nik and Jaxen still had fever). So first thing Monday morning I called the doctor. We went in that afternoon and after some check x-rays on Jaxen they determined he had a viral respiratory illness. Just look at his eyes in that picture. Pretty sad. And Zane’s eyes were just as bad with the brightest pink cheeks (on a pale face) that I have ever seen. They ran a flu swab on Zane and it came pack positive.

The doctor said as long as Jaxen was not running fever and felt up to it - he could go to school. So he had no fever Monday afternoon/evening and none Tuesday morning. He was happy and excited to go to school. So he went. And 3 hours later he was home with fever again.

We are all laying low, lets just say. Nik no longer has fever, but is coughing and weak still. I have a sore throat now and major bad headaches.

My house is a mess and all my kiddos want to do is to cuddle (and watch tv - Jaxen). Jaxen is staying home again today, but I’m hoping he is on the mend. He finally slept through the night (for about 12 hours) without waking up once! That has not happened in over a week!!!!

So that is my update. I’m off to throw some dinner in the crockpot so we can eat tonight (if anyone feels up to it) without me having to scramble around. Here’s to hoping (and praying) this sickness gets through quickly!

A Few Things

So Jaxen is no better, and no worse than last week…
and currently him and Nik both have temps over 100.
Yuck.
Sounds like I will be spending time with some doctors tomorrow :(
while trying to keep everything clean and sanitized!

**********

It all started Wednesday afternoon.

Jaxen came home from school and laid on the couch (not typical)
and said to me “mommy, I’m not going to close my eyes.”
Five minutes later, I find him like this...

He woke from his “non-nap” in time to attend his Kindergarten Information Night.
And can we just stop for a minute and look at what year he should graduate in?
2030.
Are you kidding me?!

And here he is after he met the teachers and toured the classrooms.
(While the parents got all the forms and information).

He is excited about Kindergarten.
I’m excited for him.
And his teachers all think he is more than ready to move up!

**********

Last Tuesday, Zane and I went on our first walk of the year.
It was not too cold, but was super foggy.
It was nice to be outside.
Then it rained for 2 solid days.
And then I had a sick kid.
I’ll get back outside one of these days. haha!

**********

I often find Zane in the bathroom either
1) at the toilet, or
2) brushing his teeth.
Brushing teeth for the win!

He loves it - and I love all those cute little teeth.

**********

One night last week for dinner, I served breakfast sandwiches using my waffle maker!
Ham, eggs and cheese inside 1 biscuit (cut in half) -
and then pressed in the waffle maker.
It was pretty good!

Then Nik made me one with jelly on the inside :)

**********

This little boy is just growing more everyday!
He can now successfully climb in and out of the rocking chair (pictured below);
climb up and down the few steps into our mud room;
up into our bed;
and is walking on his own here and there
(mostly from me to Nik - consisting of about 6 steps - and only when he wants to).

**********

That’s all I can think of to share right now.
I just spent about 2 hours cutting different things out of construction paper
for Jaxen’s class this week.
Let me tell you…it has been a long time since I have cut that much -
my fingers hurt! Haha!

In between cutting -
I have climbed up the stairs 4 times now to check on the boys
(give medicine, change a dirty diaper, give someone a drink of water, and to nurse a fussy baby).
I have a feeling this is what my entire night might look like.

Good thing I napped today!
